T-Shirts
come in many styles, colors, weights and quality.
All t-shirts are not created equal. Lets look at a
few of the most basic criteria for making an informed
t-shirt purchase.
For
custom t-shirt printing, the t-shirts weight is the
first consideration. For 100% cotton the standard
definition of a heavyweight t-shirt is any t-shirt
that is constructed of material weighing between 5.3
oz. and 5.8 oz. when a fabric yard of the t-shirt
material is weighed on a scale. Super heavyweight
t-shirts are generally constructed of material weighing
between 6.1oz. and 7.00 oz.
Standard
heavyweight t-shirts such as our FRUIT
OF THE LOOM, JERZEES
and HANES,
are approximately 5.6oz in weight and are our best
selling items. These shirts provide our custom t-shirt
printing customers with a huge color selection, value
and dependability. These standard heavy weight tees
are the best selling weight of any classification
of t-shirts.
Super
heavyweight t-shirts are an excellent value for customers
seeking a product with a little more beef! Check out
our review on the GILDAN
G2000 super heavyweight t-shirt. Super heavyweight
t-shirts are the recommended choice for custom embroidery.
These t-shirts cost slightly than the standard weight
but can be worth the money for customers with the
budget. Seven ounce t-shirts are seldom used. They
are primarily ordered for purposes involving athletics.
T-shirts
constructed of 50% cotton and 50% polyester are the
lightest weight tees. Most 50/50 t-shirts weigh between
3.9 oz. and 4.6 oz. We do not recommend these types
of shirts to our customers. Our opinion is that 100%
cotton t-shirts provide a superior custom printing
and embroidery surface, comfort and durability.
Shrinkage
on the major brands of t-shirts on to today’s
market is fairly uniform at 3% - 5%. All major brands
of t-shirts are pre-shrunk.
